What counts as a catalyst
News alone does not move a stock — plenty of headlines land with nothing happening. This feed only lists US stocks where a specific piece of news arrived and the price and volume actually responded to it.
Each item is tagged by category (earnings, M&A, guidance, regulatory, analyst action) and by whether the price reaction was bullish, bearish or inconclusive. The categories matter: an acquisition and an analyst note are not the same kind of event, and they do not fade at the same rate.
Why is a big headline missing from this list?
Because the price did not confirm it. Headlines without a volume and price response are filtered out on purpose.
How quickly does a news move fade?
Analyst notes and rumours usually fade within a session or two. Earnings and deals tend to hold longer.
